Dreams
of Kashmir Wall Hanging - Large
The art of embroidery in the Indian Subcontinent can be traced to
ancient roots. The thin bronze needles found in the ancient civilization
of Mohenjo Daro in the Indus Valley are believed to have meant for
embroidery. Embroidery continued to flourish in the days the Mughal
Empire, when the Maharaja’s guests graced their royalty with
lavish gifts of embroidered textile art. Exotic textiles were considered
a symbol of royal elegance while the workmanship of these textiles
was praised in royal courts. Today, we celebrate the workmanship and
charm of South Asian textile embroidery in hand-embroidered home textiles.
