Cutters are like your kitchen knives, each owning it’s own functional use.
Carbide cutters for hard wire.

Cutters are typically specified to cut a maximum guage of soft-wrie (copper). Understand that most parts used in jewelry making, such as headpins and wire, are half-hard.
